I Fired My SKS.

that I did not know, thanks perverted 'ol man;)

Nor did I...I guess its kinda like the golfer that takes WAY TO LONG setting up for a drive. A certain recipe for a 'duff'. Makes one appreciate the skill of a real deal sniper as they have to wait a while sometimes.

Don't worry..I will. Should have seen how proficient I was with my old pellet gun.

BTW...My friends were too scared to come near me or even touch the SKS...Too big too loud too powerful. They were hiding behine their car in the middle of nowhere. Then they thought the R-Comps were coming...LOL. Man 7.62 can go through alot of hardwood tree.....Fresh cow skull...both sides...fun fun. I will admit, I got scared for a sec when I shot it with no ear plugs on, I started thinking of what the gun is really meant for.

You've got sissy arse friends, or scary firearms handling and their smart enough to avoid it... (just ribbin ya ;) :p) 7.62X39 is not a barker, try a magnum with a muzzle brake. ;) Many, many times more blast. You'll find 7.62X39 is a pussy cat in the future... Just the same, always wear ear protection, or you'll regret it quickly.

Yeah Ardent you are right. If my SKS slam fires... I will smash the shat out of it with my non broken left hand.

I'm also retarded because I forgot to register the darn thing. Not shooting it again until its good to go.

You "forgot" to register it? So you purchased an illegal, unregistered firearm, then decide to post about it on the Internet.

I had you pegged as a troll the first day you posted. I'm sure this rifle doesn't even exist.

This is a good point. If the gun was purchased from any self-respecting/reputable dealer (I'm assuming this was the case, since you mentioned the Edge in a previous SKS-related post), then the dealer would have transferred the rifle to you when you bought it. There's no opportunity to "forget" to register it, since the process is out of your hands.

I realize that you're under no obligation to prove anything to anyone, mr. gunnoob, least of all to a bunch of people on the internet. That being said, the one common currency on the internet is respect, and it's not something you can get by being a troll. You have to earn it, usually through worthwhile contributions, strong and logical/reasonable expression of your opinion, and respect of others opinions. If you care about anyone taking you seriously (and not putting you on their ignore list), I'd suggest trying a different angle. Just a thought

To that end, can you tell us anything distinguishing about your SKS? Is it a pinned or threaded barrel model? What kind of markings does it have on the side of the reciever? Do all the serial numbers match?

I'm pretty sure you'll learn fast to get grapefruit-size groupings at 100 yrds with that SKS of yours, Gunnoob.
It's just a matter of getting past the fast firing buzz and learn that rifle's trigger, exercise good breathing and muscle control and learn to focus on your front post at the last moment just before releasing the shot.
BTW, when you take more than 10 seconds sighting, you should close your eyes and do the sighting again. The shot should happen within that time frame because sighting acuity rapidly decreases past 15 seconds.
Good shooting!

Hey PP , you are a class act !!!!!!!!

nice to see a proper helpful response, just too bad all the newbies to CGN dont help like that instead of jumping all over a guy and trying to trip him up

Please, Gunnoob, do something fast for that firearm  . From now on, until you've got it registered to your name, let's all say you've been testing someone's firearm you intend to buy, OK?
I just hope you're sure of the firearm's provenance because this could get you in deep sheepdip later on.
The ONLY positive aspect of firearms registration I can see is this one: you can be just a bit more confident in the fact that it is probably not stolen. I know I'm going to get flak on that one but, hey, this is a discussion forum and we have to consider all the options!;)
Now for those feared slamfires, IF you clean the hell out of that breech block, firing pin, barrel, chamber and gas system with the appropriate stuff, there's a good chance you won't get any.
Using commercial ammo with soft primer cups such as Federal stuff can give you some problems (or not) depending on your rifle. I much prefer military surplus, even if I have to deal with the corrosive ammo cleaning up routine.
Some East Block commercial ammo make use of Berdan-primed casings with hard cup primers and it is not corrosive. Best of both worlds.
Now do the deeds (all of them ;) ) and good shooting.
PP.

Yup, PP is a class act and has helped me more times that I can count. He gladly responded to all my noob PMs too.

His advice was benificial to anyone reading this forum except the person who started it, since it seems that this person in fact probably does not even own an SKS and was posting a "gun-related" thread for less than factual reasons.

In any case, PP is a good guy and any one sincere likely has many things to learn from him, me being the first one.
