Had this 1944 Long Branch, that someone had sporterized, for years. This is the 39.95 Sarco wood set that I found out about on this site.
Forend and hand guards are walnut, while the butt appears to be birch or beech. Was a little concerned about the butt having seen their illustration, but it appears to be new, judging by how the screws went in. Didn't want to alter the contours, so I used nothing but steel wool. Wood is not in bad shape, but there are a few small gouges. Gives it character. Little walnut stain took care of the color difference., followed by an oil finish. Not complete, but I goofed when I ordered the missing parts. thought I had some on hand.
