I saw this gorgeous rifle severals time on the EE and couldn't stand to let her there:) A nice persian Mauser 98/29 made in the 30's for Persian(now Iran) army. A variant of the model 98 long rifle in 7.92x57,made by BRNO in former Czechkoslovakia. Those persian contract are regarded among the nicest if not the nicest Mauser ever made, world class material and craftmanship. All the markings in farsi give a very exotic look :) Manys of thoses in the US, some in unissued condition but even there, they are not cheap surplus anymore. Here's the seller pics.

They are great rifles, and you should get them as soon as you see them.

after a lot of "horse trading", I got it for around $700.00 last spring.
how much did you pay for yours, if you don't mind?

I got it for 1K, expensive but for such rifle, i can live with. Importing from US is not cheap now so grabbing that one here was the easy way. Looking at your, we can appreciate the top quality.

That thing just OOZES Class, SVT1940!

Good to see that such a splendid rifle got a good home.

That 29-inch tube can give you 2900 ft/sec with a 150-grain slug, too: well over a .30-'06 or a 7.62 NATO...... and do it safely.

Sure couldn't have one built for that!

FINE Toy!

A thing that i find amazing on that model is the front sight base with thoses sturdy wings, machined with the barrel itself. When you think about, well to me, appear a lot of work to do that with that level of quality and after the barrel was indexed precisely like he should. Having the same rifle manufactured today with the same quality standard they had at the time would probably cost a nice pile of cash! Thoses old rifle are truly a dedication of workmanship, no shortcut about material and assemblage, only the best quality.
