I would rate my top 10 reasons I hate 10/22s as follows:

1
  1. The dicks with them use up all their ammo spraying the countryside, then use yours
  2. Flying casings litter my truck
  3. Flying HOT casings have the nasty habit of going down my shirt/Asscrack or into shorts/ resulting in short tempers and blisters
  4. Their clips are always empty from spraying the landscappe
  5. Always have jams from using cheap 30 round Butler Creek banana clips
  6. usually cannot hit crap
  7. Owner is always defensive about poor shooting
  8. did I mention $&$*%^&^$^casings all over my truck?
  9. Generally quite ugly short units
  10. Scope mounts for the cheap bushnells are usually loose, causing even greater loss of preciuos ammo.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The only good part on them IMHO is the reciver...that's why almost everyone that owns one eventualy replaces every part on them but the reciver...pretty expensive part IMHO. :D

Also I agree...I spend an average of 30-45 min cleaning my way into the range so I can fire my guns.

So I wish some 10/22 folks would invest in a brass catcher to attach to their rifle...paint it funky colours, and over price it and I'm sure it will sell. :D

Shiny, colorful, and expensive. Must be good!

scope? who needs a scope on a 10/22 ?
The perfect reason they invented the red dot !!! :p

Overly accurate under 50 yds, not good enough for most things past 100, it started more threads about deer/bear/moose/ hunting than any other caliber. I bet you none of the thread starters were thinking about the single shot ones ! ;)

Never heard about one trying the odds with the .22lr vs elk.
Polar bear? yes! but no elk yet.

how about starting one now?

Ohh did I forget to mentin you can kill all these animals with a well placed round of Aguilla SS 60 grainer?

Yeah ! they don't cycle right in 10/22s , so you can take those to the range. Only then I'll post the mods to make them smooth......
Just to rev you up.....:D :D :D :D :D

If you dont like the 10/22, that gives you all the more reason to buy a ruger bolt action 77/22;)

Also, may I consider that you take a good look at the marlin model 7000 semi auto? I would consider it one of the higher grade semi .22's out there. Or, maybe it's just me....

I own a 10/22 just the basic one, If I buy a gun I expect it to be of reasonable quality I don't want to spend thousands of $$$ on a.22 now my 10/22 is accurate enough but the stock is the worst thing I have ever seen in my life.
It does not sit flush with the barrel band. It looks to be made of pressed wood.
And they did not even bother to make it seem like it isn't some cheap, half-ass job.
I heard from many folks that the mini14 ain't much better.
Nope I am sorry but I am done with Bill Ruger and Co.
I'll be saveing up some pennies and buy a good ol trusty Brno

10/22 look aweful stock. The ones that have been modified look really good but you have to spend so much to make them look good imo

Woohoo! My sentiments exactly.

11. Accuracy by volume is NOT accuracy.

I had a buddy with a 10/22. He'd show me his 'groups' which consisted of a sheet of paper with around 100 holes in it, five of which were touching. He called it his 1/2 MOA group. When we went gopher hunting, 'aiming' consisted of 'bang. bang. bang bang bang bangbangbangbang... I got him!' We tallied up out kills that day, and came out even. But I went through 3 boxes of ammo. He went through a brick and a half.

done with 22s

After nearly 20 years, I'm about done with 22s. Poor quality, and poor quality ammo have killed my interest. For the price I have to pay to get something good, next one is a 30 cal.

hey Dave,....does this mean I can't bring my 10-22 down to your house to play anymore?

So that's why you were jumping around so much last summer everytime I pulled off a shot....I thought you were just nervous..:D

How about if I bring a 12V vacuum and clean out your truck after the shoot?....forget I said that:rolleyes: ...OK...here's the deal...If I can't shoot my 10-22 in your truck....you can't shoot my Hornet....deal?:p :D

spent some money on my 10/22 Isn't that why we buy guns? Still like my bruno as well though.:D :D :D

Or a Brno...
Thats right, was handeling one at wholesale the other day and then it hit me...
That's what a .22 should feel like.
We all had one when we were kids in SA. Brno was to us what a cooey is to a Canadian
