I'm finally getting around to putting my Christensen Arms 300PRC into its new AG Composite Alpine hunter stock.

Now the question I have is when bedding the recoil lug area I always tape the front, sides, and bottom of the lug.

This rifle had the barrel replaced and I can see when it was rebedded into the factory stock the lug was not taped, as it is snug into the stock bedding.

Which is the best, or better way to do this? Should the lug be tight into the bedding or just tight to the back side of the lug?

Thank You

Clearance on the front, sides and bottom is better in the long run and only takes a few minutes of your time... keep doing it...

The reason it is better is because it makes it so much easier to take it out of the stock and more importantly easier to go back into the stock...

A tight lug can shave off a bit of bedding material and that gets forced down into the bottom of the lug recess...

A tight lug is just a pain in the ass and does not increase accuracy or strength... it's quicker for the factory to do it.
