I would like to cut down a couple old single shots I have lying around to give to friends as fun backpack guns. I would like to be able to thread these cut down barrels for interchangeable chokes and I would like to know exactly which tools are needed and if there is anything I am over looking. I know I need a reamer and a tap as well as the choke tube itself and bushings but which make, model, and size of both reamer and tap would you folks recommend? I have a metal lathe so I won't be reaming by hand if that makes a difference. I'm starting off with a 12 gauge but I don't know which type of choke I'm using at the moment, I'll probably try and find some here on the EE. I hope this post makes sense to someone and I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

Is this what I need?:http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-t...-tools/win-choke-style-tooling-prod25287.aspx

That's fine but I'm looking to do it myself. I don't mind the expense as I will probably do it more than once.

Then make a decision on what size of choke tubes that will work in the barrels you have and buy the tooling... not all tube sizes will work in all barrels. You have to figure that out...
