Been carving some tight hunting/atv/sled trails out of this bush for last few months. Setting up for my first year of deerhunting.
Trails lead from my backyard through couple hundred acres of neighbours property I'm allowed to hunt trying to connect prime spots to promote controlled movement. Their property is a nice mixture of bush and open fields.

Thus far have one treestand up and a natural blind made with trees carved out of trails and just five screws to support main structure.


This video I retrieved from gamecam this afternoon is from this morning; the doe walks within five yards of blind, buck is maybe 15-20yds out in centre by one of my pile of apples picked from trees around here.

In past month I've got him to come out and play with calls twice, had him come up to edge of my yard one night I was having a bonfire to snort wheeze me, have some nighttime pics of him but this is the first he's allowed himself caught in middle of day.

Well, as of this morning I've seen 34 deer within shot distance, atleast half of which within 40yds.
Havent seen him yet, half dozen young bucks and one MONSTER but I couldn't get a shot off quick enough (Wouldn't come into field for me).

I've been being a good patient boy waiting for an 8pt or better but the clocks ticking...
got till Saturday..

Four fields from my house. I setup and camo'd with burlap and hay my PWC trailer I converted with a Shooting bench atop it at edge of that field to watch the action. Almost all shots are within 175yd.

That's obviously not all at once. I'm seated from approx. 6:15-8:30 and again 3-6 daily. Most I've seen in one sitting rolling through is 12.
Had four does walk under stand I was in last night I could've hit with a brick.

This is first year hunting deer myself and I'm amazed at how blind they are if your just motionless.

BTW, in that video, I think the doe smelled something she didn't like near your blind/stand.
