A professionally converted for take down (german possibly) 6.5 x 55 Swede Cavalry Carbine. I saw it on Milsurp after hours and it was in the UK. Knowing a very friendly Registered Firearms Dealer that likes cased European rifles I approached him and it was delivered.
This is what we saw online:
On the range:
Cased:
laid out stripped:
now it has been delivered:
Having had the rifle apart and checked it with a big magnifying glass they are no marks to show who did the work, cost wise it had to have been done between the wars unless the rifle was free, apart from the woodwork the bolt handle was bent and scallopped at the rear, the claw mounts fitted and the scope is excellent and you can see through the mounts to the flip up express style sights on the barrel.
The rifling is very good so I feel a variation going in soon when I start my new contract!
this will be no safe queen, it will compete in historic sporting matches and also I will use it on the Roe Bucks this summer!
I cant remember who made the scope apart from it being German, the close ups didnt work. The Dealers comments were; "Its a very nice example of European Gunsmithing and is worth at auction probably about half again on top of what I have paid if not more!
