Was at an elderly friend's house last week, helping him disassemble and maintain an old Cooey. Wants to get it ready for a shooting session for his grandson, his first!
He told me that the Cooey is an ideal first gun because that "gold cowboy 22" he has was too complicated... Needless to say this aroused my curiosity, I asked him if I could see, said "gold" gun.
He had purchased it secondhand over twenty years ago, oiled it and put it away in the back of the safe. Short of checking to say if it hasn't rusted, he has not shot it in all these years.
Well, it turns out it's a bit of a rarity, a Winchester Cheyenne commemorative in 22, only 1500 made in 1977. Not in pristine condition, previous owner definitely used it but overall not bad.
Had never seen one, heck, did not know they even existed, only thought that commemoratives were made in 30-30 or 44-40, even tried to "correct" him prior to him removing it from the safe.
An interesting and not often seen little rifle that compelled me to take a pic of and share!
