I have never seen one of these before, and since I reload my Swedish Mauser ammo I thought it would be handy.

Hopefully it should be in my hot little hands in a few weeks (it's coming from Texas). :D :dancingbanana:

Anyone ever seen one of these brass catchers before?

Keen! I wonder if they made one for the 42B.

Mind you, a brass catcher for the 42B would have to be made of kevlar or cast iron, and have a mouth on it bigger than Martha Raye's...

Esp' since our slash piles here on Vancouver Island tend to eat brass. :p
With my Enfields I'm hand catching the brass before the bullet hits the target. :D

Now the real question is why did the Swedes or Germans make such a device while they were using Military issue ammo?

When you get it can you post some more detail photos of how it's assembled, and how it locks onto the rifle?

I'll do some close up pics on my rifle when I get it.
I'm going to add some deerskin on the inside clamp part so as to protect my Swedes wood.

Just get used to packing a lunch and putting on your hiking boots before you go out to pick up the brass from your 42B.One reason why I don't shoot mine thatmuch.:D

and a metal detector would be a big help too.:D

It arrived yesterday! And it works better then I thought. :)

No markings on it that I can see...so far.
It is a two piece unit with a catcher that slides onto a mount.
The mount is very solid, and attaches via a wrap around clamp and a nifty swivel bolt.

With charger...

The Brass flips into the catcher bag quick like a Vegas dealer dealing out cards.

I have never seen any device like this before. :)

Now my Enfield needs one. :D

Cool John!

Hey how do you like the add on pistol grip?

I have seen them come up for sale once in a while and was wondering about them.

Fitted it to a 96 with a target sight. They are tack drivers in any case. If you get one, make sure you also get the screw that comes with it, as the original screw on the rifle will be too short. I like it only because it's a nice accessory, I am not much as an expert target shooter.;)

The reason that even the civilian clubs pick up brass stems from the army. In those days brass cases cost money even Berdan primed ones. The military would give out punishments for any empties not handed in. I was good at press ups after training on the L1 A1. The civvy club ranges were run on military lines with rounds counted out and brass counted in! Most in that period pre WW1 were funded by the War Dept to at least the tune of free ammo and therefore needed the brass back.
We had similat ones for rifles carried on Westland Scout helicopters as they were petrified about FOD bringing down a helo. No idea how they do it now. There was one made for the Bren and very efficient it was too.

I tell yah it works a treat, and if I ever see one for the Enfield I'm grabbing it.
Now I need one for when I start reloading the SKS...I'm Too Scottish for my own good sometimes. :D
