i just got a israeli k-98 in7.62 for 70$ bore &headspace is great. i would like to know what factory it came from it,s stamped on the action 1940 and 147 other small markings peened out also has a front sight hood no stock disc stamped metal barrel bands and a stamped oversize trigger guard ,no floor plate mag release any info would help thanks tornado45

The receiver was made by Saeur und Sohn in 1940 for Nazi Germany. The Czechs likely refurbed it in the late 40's before selling it to Isreal who then refurbed it again and converted it to 7.62 NATO in the late 50's or early 60's.

You got a great deal at $70. They seem to be good shooters, at least mine is. The bore on mine was like new alto the stock looked like it had been thru 2 or 3 wars, which it has. The history of these is interesting, Nazi to Isreali Defense Force!
