So I have been reloading 410 and 28 ga by hand for a while.. looking for a press over the last few years while developing an outstanding #9 shot load for both with LILGUN. I was in Bass Pro with a handful of 300 wssm reloading stuff and the manager asked if I was interested in anything else today or could he ring me up.... I started the process then asked about the MEC 410 and the conversion kit to go 28. I am happy to say all is on the way!!!! Anyone else happy with Bass Pro?

I don't go there anymore, because the last 2 times I drove 1.5 hours there to buy things on sale, they said those are American prices I saw online. Even though the website said Rockyview (Calgary) at the top. They said I'm supposed to phone the store for prices before coming in. So I just go to Cabela's and the prices are same as their website.

I just bought an old Versamec press with the intension of switching it or my mk 5 to .410 paid $60 for the versamec at a gunshow yeaterday and I think I paid $65 for my 600 jr mk5 about 10 years ago it also came with a Lyman 3rd addition book. mec still has parts for pretty much all their presses(new and old) you will find changing gauges is a pain nice thing in if you find one for sale cheap second hand you can change the dies and forget switching. oddly enough the mec 600 and pre 82 versamec are almost identical the versamec I got even has the auto prime. I don't reload much 12ga other than buckshot and slugs but may start doing bismuth and turkey loads

hopefully the cheddite(challenger and new imperal) hulls last much longer and the Remington's nice thing is you can buy 100 cheddite hulls for $20

After I #####ed about this last year they put me onto an agent who stated that they were working on a Canadian pricing website and it would be operational shortly. A year later same story same shyte. That said, I learned and now call my local store prior to and have been rewarded some very good pricing.

you will be saving money in no time with .410 and 28ga prices the way they are heck I could only find 1 box of .410 at the gun show yesterday it had to be 40 years old and buddy wanted $25. doesn't make sense that something that uses less shot,powder and plastic cost more. I like to take the cheap flats of 12ga federal and estate and uncrimp them dump the shot and pop in a cast slug I have been saving all that 7.5 shot for a rainy day should work well for grouse in the little .410

Loaded 410 ammo has always been expensive and it is not likely to change anytime soon in this life time or the next. And 28 ga is even worse. I shot 410 skeet for years and reloaded thousands of 410 shells. I always bought a full case (500) Winchester AA skeet loads just to get the hulls. As buying decent used AA hulls was next to impossible. We all used AA hulls exclusively in those days, I don't know what else is available these days. The rest of the components were always readily available. If you get 10 reloads out of a 410 hull you have done very well, most of the time it is about 6 before the crimp won't hold well enough to seal off the shot and hold enough back pressure to mainatin consistent velocities.

Changing from one guage to another is painful and not quick. I recommend you either return the conversion kit and buy another 28G press or look for a cheap used 12G press and set it up as 28G with your conversion kit.

Phone ahead. They will give you the same percentage discount on the stuff they have in stock if its shown on the website to be on sale at the store
Your a smart man and this is the way to do it, and the way we did it when I shot a lot. I had a Mec. 600 Jr's set up with auto primer feeds, and universal charge bars, for each gauge shot then there is no dicking around changing dies. I had hull and wad feeders at each machine so it was just a matter moving your butt on the wheeled office chair from one machine to the next until you had loaded what you wanted. Even kept one Mec in 12 ga. set up just for doing hunting loads.
