I know this a odd question but

Not to be facetious, but "mint condition" together with "NWMP" is virtually a contradiction in terms. A Mounted Police handgun of that vintage should have been well used for decades ... are you sure it hasn't been refinished?

If it truly is "mint", it should be quite valuable ... especially if it is actually marked "NWMP" rather than "RNWMP" or just "MP" ... only the very earliest Colts were NWMP-marked.

As already noted, good quality pictures, including clear close-ups of markings, are essential to be able to give a meaningful answer ...

Here are the picture's of Joe's New Colt.

I'm Rob and this was my fathers handgun. I sold it to Joe when my father passed away in 2006. He purchased it from our neighbour who was a retired RCMP officer and the gun was given to him as a retirement gift in1969. This gun is in original shape and has never been re-blued. The marking on the bottom of the grip is MP.... not rcmp. This gun was never used in service yet came with the original leather holster. This gun's only flaw is a cracked pistol grip and a small sign of rubbing on the end of the barrel from the holster.

It would be great if we could still get a approx. price from you guy's that have been around awhile.

Thank-you ..... Rob O'Neill

1909 455 Eley

I just picked one of these up in similar condition mine is a WW1 Canadian trench officers gun ( name engraved on the side) ,I picked it up for 785.00 which I considered an exeptional deal. The blue book of gun values lists these around 1100.00-1350.00. Yours being R.C.M.P should be worth 10-15 percent more . Hope this helps.

It should be possible to determine when the revolver was purchased from its serial number. A friend has one in this condition in .45 (not .455) Colt from a batch purchased in 1942. With the walnut stocks and silver medallion, this revolver would be later than NWMP or RNWMP periods. The MP stamp would confirm this.
I don't think that the value of a WWI service revolver would particularly relate to the value of an MP issue revolver. Named WWI officer's pistols, both Colts and S&Ws, are relatively more common than MP marked ones.
FWIW, I can remember when ex-Mounted Police service revolvers were being sold by a dealer in NY State, Hudson's Sporting Goods - this would have been well over 40 years ago. You had a choice of NWMP, RNWMP or MP marks, $24.95 or $29.95 depending on condition.
