I like my 597. Plastic crap stock got replaced with laminate and then...I
got this boyds stock yesterday. what a difference in comfort and handling....but looks amazing too. Just had to share it.

Stock makes the gun...this one was on sale. $92 US with shipping...was last one too.
Want to get one in pink , red or yellow for my wife's 597 if i get lucky.
 
The Remington 597 TVP and the 597 Yellow jacket both come with that same stock design. Very handy. Just letting you know that you can get it straight from the store with that stock. Although the target models are fairly expensive.
 
got this directly from boyds. it was under $100 before shipping so they could send it to me. they are temporarily out of stock but i will be looking for one for my wife's 597 in red pink or otherwise...
i love 597s...once i mess with them they are without a flaw. had 6 one time...

i got the gun a while back for $150 stock cost me $95 shipping and all scope $100. good value for what i got. since i added volquatrsen extractor and hammer and removed bolt open its been perfect....my wife put 2 bullets in the same hole @ 20m standing... beginners luck? i think not.
this isnt target model...just regular gun...

Another happy customer with Boyd's gun stocks. One of the best for online customer service with prompt email notification of receipt of order and shipping. Both under $100.00 including shipping from the USA.

Bought both of these stocks over the past couple weeks so still a work in progress.

The Blue Sky laminate at top is currently wearing a 597 .22 magnum that I got off the EE a couple weeks back that had the plain black stock on it. Removed the sights and waiting on a Volquartsen base from Rimfiresports.

The Applejack Red laminate on the bottom is wearing a 597 HB. Going to have to put a higher set of rings on the scope.

well shot it..i have to admit pistol grip improves accuracy. get a better hold on the rifle shoot better, also angle and position at which the finger lands on the trigger makes for better squeeze.( straight back instead of sort of upwards.) with this stock i feel that balance is improved as well....so here it is, if you like the way it looks..it will also work well.

very cool....like them both...nice they have a sale from time to time and we can get these at reasonable cost.
as far as base goes i found that on occasion the base screws can strip out the receiver so be careful when tightening it down. one i have with scope has no base ( stripped) the other with red dot does.I had few others had the same problem.
