Gun Juice the barrel a dozen times and it IS broken in. The time to prevent copper fouling is when a rifle barrel is new, not after the copper has started to accumulate.

Med-High are your Leupolds, Nightforce and Zeiss
Med are your Bushnells and Burris and countless others
Lower than that and the world is your oyster since a single post won't do justice to just how many brands are out there. Search the forum and you'll find lists.
By the way, just got my first firearm today too. Will post pics once my scope mount is ready and it's all put together

how much you pay? where?
For the scope, I bought a Bushnell 4200 tactical. Mount it on my Rem 700P in .308. Very nice scope. I have paid 740$ brand new with tax and shipping. I decided to buy this scope instead of a Leupold or a Nightforce because you have to buy some rings and base and that can cost a lot too. Don't forget that the base and the rings are at least as much important as the scope you mount on it. Good scope with cheap base and rings become a cheap scope. I bought some TPS medium rings(125-150$) and a Farrel base with 20 moa(120$). So, for close to 1000$, you have a really nice set up for your rifle.
If you want to spend less money on your scope, I heard some verry nice comments about the Falcon Menace scopes. They are about 450$ to 500$.

Good choice - I followed a light break in period ( shot 3 rounds cleaned then shot another three etc for about 20 or so rounds then shot five followed by a cleaning etc for another box ) and then just shot normally. I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 6x24x40 in Leupold rings on a Leupold long range one piece mount. I am waiting for a Falcon Menace but the waiting period has been silly ( free advice - if you really want one consider going online and buying one from the UK direct ) and I am kinda loosing interest as the Elite is working out just fine for me.
