Hello. I tried to print my turkey hunting tag just now. Just found there are some problems with my printer after I clicked print. I found I cannot print it again. Could anyone tell me is there anything I can do except buying another tag? Thanks for helping!

Thanks for helping. I called them. problem solved. They told me I can go to Service Ontario to print it.

How much do they charge to reprint the tag?

They didn't charge me. It is free. I went to my local gun store to reprint it. just tell them what happened and they made a phone call to the ministry. Asked me to do some paperwork and reprinted to me.

Use linux. Print directly to PDF. Open PDF and Print. In case of failure, you get free retries.

I don’t use Linux but I printed directly to pdf which saved the file to my desktop. Then I opened the pdf and printed it. That way if my tag gets destroyed or damaged in the field I can always print off a new one. I’m glad I did it this way because my printer hung up on the first try (printing que jammed up from kids/wife who think if something didn’t print the first time, the best thing to do is to hit print 27 more times because THAT will fix it ;) ).

Lots of potentially for abuse here.

Ontario is over a million square kilometers, and there are a few hundred COs. The potential for abuse is high no matter what system is used.

Poachers are going to poach. My suggestion would be to use the MNRF Tips line if you know poaching has occurred.. Ive done it, and had a call back within minutes, which lead to an investigation.

There are guys on this very forum who have said they know poaching occurs, but dont report it. WHY? Thats what I want to know.

This is what i did too. I like this new way of doing it. Like gun laws, poachers won't follow anything that is implemented so atleast this makes life better for people who do follow the regs.

Do they really think limiting your ability to print the tag is going to curb abuse?:confused::confused:

Have they never heard of a screenshot, or a photocopy?

You are not alone. I read an article recently, I think it was OOD one of their people with the same issue. Probably your best bet is to take the receipt and head out to a service Ontario location.

and that's how a hunter now becomes a paper criminal.. you are not allowed to make copies as per the fine print on the ticket.. since you made a print you have 2 copies, one digital, and one paper.

got to love this new system..

by your definition, everyone who prints a tag is a criminal.

you can't print something unless it is first downloaded. so if you printed it, you have downloaded it and you got two copies.

No it's not.. if you follow the "official" process once you have printed the PDF in the browser, you don't download it. if you try to save the pdf from the browser it only saves the first page (the second page is print protected) so you never have two copies of the tag portion.

if you print to PDF, you are doing something which they didn't intend/nor can prevent, hence the fine print saying you are not allowed to have 2 copies of the tag portion.

hence you are a paper criminal for having printed to PDF and they printed to paper without erasing the PDF.

as I said.. you got to love the new system.. it makes it easy to break the law for doing something that you would normally do for any other PDF you save/print (with no intention of poaching etc)
