Just got my licence and bought myself a 597 VTR on EE and a Savage MkII FXP at Bartons. I simply LOVE shooting these guns!

I also have an SKS and an 870 Express and although fun, the rimfire are so much more fun because i can shoot them forever and not worry about ammo cost. Both guns are absolute tack drivers at 100 yards. Even with my newbie skills the Remington will do a 3" group at 100 yards firing it quickly. The Mk2 was $189 with a Bushnell 3x9 scope. You cant go wrong with that!

Thats all i wanted to say!

When the big-bore ammo is all chewed-up :yingyang: , what remains is the ultra-fun and easily-fed rimfire fun.....:dancingbanana:...glad you're having fun :D , b/c the key to good shooting is practice, practice, practice  - and that is where the rimfires shine !....

Man when you look at the cost for ammo compaired to everything else its cheep cheep cheep

Good fun I bet, never shot a handgun yet, one day

Gotta Love the .22 !!

... I Reload, and have a couple of Center Fires , BUT I still shoot the lowly .22 way more than everything else combined! ... One with a Scope and the other with "Peep Sights" just for variety ! ..... David K

Oh yes I love my .22s. So much fun for cheap. Gotta love shooting the cci sub sonics too. Fireing pins clicks and seconds later thwack :). Nice rimfires to start with too.

I hear ya! I just bought two CZ rifles. A 527 in 7.62x39 and a 452 Varmint in 22LR. My fav is the 22.
I like 22s. They're fun, cheap, and easy on the shoulder. I can go through 700 rounds in a day and not break the bank.

You're putting 700 rds. a day through a CZ 452? That's a shot fired every 1.458 seconds for 8 hours straight. That's not even taking into consideration that you will actually look at your target after firing each shot, reload mags, changing targets, or have a piss break every once in a while.

Unless you're shooting lots of semi-auto fire at random targets without concerning yourself with accuracy, how do you go through so many rounds a day?

Yea, some guys consider the .22lr to be insignificant and a complete waste of time, but it's the ultimate training round. I have an SR22 and a Ruger 22/45 and I can easily blast through 500+ rounds in a session at the range, it's lots of affordable fun.

Sure I'll switch to 9mm, .223, 12 gauge, and then you're running some real firepower, but it's just too expensive to blast through even a couple hundred rounds of the higher calibre stuff.

Every shooter should have at least one .22 gun, all the best.

700 is a lot of rounds but your math doesn't add up.

1 round every 10 seconds = 6 rounds per minute
700 rounds shot at 6 rounds per minute = 116.667 minutes = less than 2 hours

Your math works out to 19,753 rounds over the course of 8 hours.

I have to agree with you. Last count on 22s was 45+ and we just spent the afternoon out on the lawn for some family time and shot at least 15 of them. Kids enjoy it and my GF does too. We went through a brick of cci std vel that seems to work well (and quiet) in most of the rifles. How many guys do you know that use a shop vac to get the brass off the lawn? And to agree about the math double check, with the speed loader and 2 1022s we could shoot 600 rounds in an hour. That's excessive. You definately don't hit the bulls eye as often like that but we wanted to know.My favorite cartridge by far.

Actually, a shot fired every ~1.5 seconds is 40 rounds a minute which means, 700 rounds can be fired in 17.5 minutes, not 8 hours. ;)
