Finally got off my ass and test fired my Cougar today. Ran like a top, but I suggest you strip, clean and take all the rough edges off before firing like I did. I fired every thing from 3" slugs to cheap #4 shot.
The old Cougar comes pretty rough when she is new. You need to buff her shell follower and action bars. Also you need to clean the grease in the recoil spring in the stock. I shot 100rds with no big problems. The only minor problem I had is that the screw in choke came loose. Thats an easy fix with locktite. I know most Cougar's could use some locktite.
