There is my latest monster, some of you may find it fugly, but I thing she is ###y!!
BTW it's my first Remington on the dozen rifles I own or had owned!:eek:

only parts of it are ugly

namely the barrel band, and front sight :) the stock is *ok*, but not as nice as the Mountain Rifle or VLS laminates

is that a 350 Rem Mag?? or a 6.5mm RM, 308, or 300saum...

I had this strange idea: I think about mounting a good low power scope on Leupold QRW rings and get rid of the sights and replace them by a bead sight...
If I was pointing my rifles as fast as my favorite shotgun, when in the heavy brush, I'd just take the scope off and aim with the bead for a fast shot.

BTW anyone had a set of steel weaver bases nearby? Or at your local toystore? I can't find any here...
 
Of course it's ugly, it's a Remington.:p (That's for Bartell ;))

The 350 is a great round. I have a 350RM in a Ruger stainless (very ###y) and it shoots 225gr Partitions very well. Send me a pm if you want the load.

I do not think that it is ugly at all. In fact, I think that is one very pretty and original rifle. Must also be a blast to shoot.

You want ugly, unbalanced and odd looking. I own two very old Cooey shot guns, single shot, break action. A 16 and a 410. The stock is short, the barrel is long and when you break them to load a shell, they look like a dead fish hanging over the side of the boat.

Not how is that for a visual. That' ugly.

With regards to the use of a bead front sight as a scope back-up, I can't help but think that a ghost ring and post would serve you better. These sights are very fast and they index well for longer range should it be required. There are some problems you might encounter trying to use a bead front sight on your rifle. Will you be able to squash you cheek down hard enough on the stock to have a proper sight picture? Because modern stocks are designed for use with scopes, I think the factory stock probably does not have enough drop to be usable this way, and with your cheek pressed very hard against the stock, apparent recoil will seem much heavier because your head will be snapped back. I think the bead would have to be mounted so high above the muzzle that you might as well have a conventional front and rear sight.

There are several makers who manufacture QD ghost rings which will attach to Weaver bases, and it seems to me that there is someone who makes a scope base with a built in ghost ring for Remingtons. If you don't like aperture sights, express sights are also very fast, if less precise, although an express sight might interfere with you scope mounting.

You are damn right about this, and I love apperture sights. Thanks for your input!

Actuallythe stock is designed for the usage of the sights, the line of sigths are about 3/4" above the rib.
 
UGLY???

That's one of the ###iest guns ever produced!! I have a Model 600. (The original) It's chambered in .308 win. Best rifle I've ever owned!

Beware of premier member and gun trader extrordinaire Doug however. He is on a hunt for your very rifle and might just talk you out of that ugly thing if your not carefull :D :D
