Well this project Began a few weeks ago when I seen the 14" 590A1 Class III's on sale. I have wanted a 590A1 retrograde for some time, but also wanted a shorty 590, So I figured I'd try and combine both.
Tracking down parts wasn't as easy as I thought, I ended up getting the corn cob fore end along with a birds head grip from another CGN'er here that came off a shockwave nightstick.
The Rear Stock and another fore end from the US.
The heatshield was a new prototype for 14" 590's I got from Sladestreet, But it turned out it wouldn't work with a front sight post, So I had to modify it some, Not sure I'm sold on it, but we'll see how it does.
I also added a Defender Tactical short shell adapter to be able to run shorty shells.
Anyways here it is.

Wood looks good, overall I think it would look better and be more practical without the heat shield.

A heat shield with no bayonet is just something else to clean and carry.... :)

I’m surprised no one makes an aftermarket heat shield for ithaca 37’s. I wouldn’t mind making a trench gun out of one of those

Looks pretty good. I'm not crazy about super short shotguns, I'm happy with around 20", and a tube to match for that extra capacity. But looks like you did a good job on it.

Nice work!

I've been working on a very similar project with a new Mossberg 590S 14" Shockwave. But after trying various stocks (Speedfeed, pistol grip, pistol grip + AR 4-position stock, etc), I find the Magpul stock to be the most comfortable and easy to use. I really like the grip angle of the Magpul stock.

I agree, you can't beat the ergos of the magpul stock, have you ever looked into the WooX wood stocks? They look like they would also have good ergos like the magpul

I think it looks fantastic and agree that a sling is a necessity for this shotgun. The heat shield is well executed, and anyone who's rapped off several rounds in quick succession will testify it's not just about looks, its practical for reloading when the barrel's smoking hot.

Is this 14" got the heavy walled 590A1 barrel?

Where the hell did you find the short shell adapter? I've been on the hunt for one for sometime...I refuse to pay more in shipping than what the rubber piece is worth.
