So I met this good looking girl from Czechoslovakia. She's a lot of fun, and I've only taken her out twice so far. But she likes to smack me in the cheek. Just look what she's been doing to me...

But I just can't stop taking her out because she's too much fun.

Ok now that I got that out of my system... Does anyone else have a lot of problems with cheek slap with the M4 stock the CSA VZ's comes with? This thing is killing me.

I think she'd prefer that you shaved! :p

Seriously, I think you are likely on the bench shooting, kind of hunched over the rifle? I get "cheek kisses" from that a lot: those girls don't like that form of 'humped' over them. They prefer the stretched out and natural form of free standing or prone to get you inline with the action.

Wow, that sounded dirty...

Yeah, the beating is from being on the bench. I did shoot from sitting and standing and it didn't seem to be so bad in retropect.

I wonder though, are the original style dog leg stocks better or worse for ergonomics? I've never shouldered one. Just another VZ with the iron slab folder. They look from pictures like they would give more drop for those low iron sights. I'm still deciding a direction to go with modifications. But I'm thinking of either trying to find a polymer dogleg style stock or paint a bakelite one black. The preference being to find a proper polymer one.

Guess you've never shot a properly sized FN C1A1? Did a quick google on the setup as I am not familiar with it. May want to put a check pad on there to give you something to rest on.

She sounds like a real headache...

Definitely rings your bell. There was an old timer sighting in his 270 yesterday who I spent the evening shooting with and I told him to go ahead and try it out. 2 smacks in the cheek was enough for him and he was ready to go back to his 270.

The benches at my range have zero adjustment so I guess it all factors in to an unfavorable shooting position for the rifle maybe. I've yet to pick out a brake but as I've researched more some say a brake makes a big difference. I just wish there was an easy way to try out a bunch of different stocks. I think I need to move to the Czech Republic.
