I need a 38-45 reamer

Not too sure, I bought a set of dies in the EE. When I saw the set, I couldn't resist. So I'm commencing with a project. It'll be a 5.5" STI barrel, with trubore compensator.
Load data is low but I'm zeroing on 38 Casull. It's the same dimensions, with #### Casull's "amping". The chamber is fully supported and the brass will be 45 Win Mag for the hot loads.

impressive. the 38 Casull was smokin' hot. i think it was pushing a 147gr(? or 158) at 1500-1600 fps. even loaded down a little would still be very hot and keep the frame around a little longer. i'm thinking that in a 6" trojan would also be a pretty sweet set up.

The .38-.45 appeared in several forms back in the 1960-1970s. Probably the most common was Bo Clerk's version but finding one of his reamers now is very unlikely. They were often used as CF match in bullseye 2700 courses, a cheaper way to get .38Special recoil and accuracy. Big problem was case life and the number that failed in forming. With heavy loads you are likely to see lots of case ruptures and ejection problems, more of the former than the latter. Once S&W M52s and Clark 38 conversions became more common the 38/45 vanished.

I believe jgs-tool has the sought after reamer. I should have an answer tomorrow, hopefully.
My pistolsmith is stoked, figures it should be fun!
My interest will be in projective load development.
The pistol will be a shared platform, 45ACP and the 38-45.
Both have STI bull barrels, should be an easy swap.
Magazines are Chip McCormick, so, hopefully same for both.
One gun two different animals, kind of like a Blaser.

I have a lot of hope vested in this project.

Cheers
Bruce
