I have a .38 Special Model 10-5, and the previous owner installed a .38 S&W barrel on it, cause apparently he's a genius. It's .004 over sized. So I'm trying to correct the mistake.

Anyone know where I can buy a .38 Special barrel of legal length? Or do you have one to sell? Thanks!

This is not an uncommon mod as 38 s&w barrels are readily availablish and shouldn't pose much of an issue, especially w/ HB wadcutters.
Parker Hale used to simply ream the 38 s&w cylinder and sell surplus revolvers as 38 special.

38 s&w is .380 shorter in case length compared to 38 special so you would have to ream the chamber in the cylinder to make it longer to fit the longer case

I bought a 4" barrel S&W years ago when I was young and ignorant. It was marked 38 S&W but the cylinder had been reamed for 38 Spl. Bulged the cases when fired with 38Spl, so I went back to the gun shop that sold it to me and traded it for a Win. 61 .22. Love the 61, but if I had been phsycic, I should have kept it to have 12-6.
