I need a .38 special receipe

Not Suitable.

Even though I like Unique powder, it is not suitable for the 38special wadd cutter round. Its just too slow...
The classic loads in no particular order for the 148 swaged wadd cutter, or the cast 148 grain wadd cutter in a 38 special case are:
2.5 grains Clays.
2.5 grains ClayDot
2.8 grains RedDot
2.8 grains PROMO
2.8 grains 700X
3.1 grains 231
2.8 grains Bulleseye
All others are inferior.

None.

It's not a good powder for that bullet.

I use 2.8gr/Bulleye.

You can use 3.0gr - 3.2gr/231 too.

I shoot a smith and wesson model 52(very accurate gun) have found that 3.1 gr of W231 with speer 148 HBWC works very nicely. This is even below the starting recommendation for W231 and that bullet, havnt chrono'd it but suspect about 675 to 700 FPS very light recoil great for bullseye
