This was one of my favourite air pistols ever - .177 CO2 Beretta FS92. Used it for many years, and then in 2015 I used it for training some kids in Parry Sound at a church Father/Sons event. Several kids used it with instruction and supervision, but at the end of the day the last kid went to activate the slide and it came right off. I couldn't figure out what the problem was with this all these years, but as I had some time this weekend, and since air pistols like this are heavily on the government's radar, I am hoping to fix it up and have one more go with this before putting it away or selling it.
Over the years, I have never figured out what was causing the slide to come off when I moved the switch that gets the slide to move forward, but it always moved forward with spring action enough so I can load a rotary magazine...now the slide just comes right off.
I finally found a video that deals with the disassembly and it turns out that the problem (apparently) is quite easy...or so I think.
If you watch the first 30 seconds of this video you will see a flat head screw under the barrel - that's the first screw this person removes...and guess what...mine doesn't have the screw. I can see that it screws into this metal piece with a rod that is threaded.
I suspect the screw got loose and eventually fell out that weekend.
According to the video, it doesn't look like the screw is that long...but it looks like it retains the slide so it doesn't fall out completely. And that explains my problem. The rest of the parts of the gun are there...
This gun is long discontinued and all of the air gun dealers I have reached out to don't have any parts for it.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get this pistol working again? I can't believe it appears to be such an easy fix now that I see the video, but I am hardly a handy guy so this was just sitting in its original case for the past 7 years until this weekend.
Thanks in advance for any advice and / or assistance.
