i need help

hello,i got a smith and wesson 916a pump riot shotgun i got from someone here ,since i got it i never fired it i collect old riots shotguns ,this week i was taking pictures of my shotgun and i notice the 916a will not lock after the action is operated ,and i cant see the slide release at all its stuck inside and will not lock the pump ,any one has an idea what to do beside going to a gunsmith, thanks.

Take it apart see if its just dirty or fouled up.

i did what you said and i found out the piece is missing it came this way now that a dangerous situation to sell a shotgun like that ,i am trying to find who sold it to me but that was over a year ago not easy thanks for your help.
