Anyone live near Chilliwack that knows lots about SKS? I got mine I need help.. It came disassembled and so I put it in my Fusion stock and now I am trying to finish putting it together but I am afraid of doing something wrong... Help. Please. I really want to shoot it! lol. Thanks.

First, can you furnish us with some close-up pics of the "work in progress"?
What kind of SKS? "D" type or the conventional fixed magazine one?
Still got the folding bayonet on it?
Were the carrier, breech block and receiver cover already installed?
I guess the trigger/hammer assembly was separate. When attempting to put it back on, first, make sure the hammer is ARMED and the safety ON.
Then place the magazine assembly's front locating lip in the corresponding recess and pivot it to the back. Now, holding the magazine in place, slide the trigger/hammer assembly in place, locking the magazine's core.
VERY IMPORTANT: PULL THE CARRIER TO THE REAR TO ALLOW THE MAGAZINE FEED LIPS TO BR CLEAR OF THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BOLT! THEY EACH FIT IN A GROOVE ON EACH SIDE OF THE CARRIER. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEAT THE MAGAZINE'S CORE PROPERLY.

Then, slap the trigger guard to force it to catch on the latching pin going through the stock and connecting the back of the receiver to the trigger/hammer block.
Sometimes, some fitting is necessary in order to connect these parts between themselves.
Good luck!
IMPORTANT:, when reassembling the upper receiver, remember the WAVY end of the main return spring goes INSIDE the carrier.
PP. :)

Very nice! I am jealous! The wood on the top one is beautiful. I love looking at guns..... I guess I should probably do some housework soon. Sigh, I hate housework, I would rather go shooting but my daughter would like a Christmas tree. Argh!!

East Germany made one??? Damn your eyes. LOL. You are right though, I would like to compare them all...:shotgun:

Yes,Ma'am they built the best of the bunch. Not many left, but a few do surface from time to time. Used to be pictures on the old Siminov site of a guy's collection. Forget now excatly how many he had,but it was over 100 of them from every country that made them. Not sure if Survivor's SKS board is up anymore or not,but he was on there too.

I sure am doing alot of housework. lol. Well I did get some stuff done, I am on my break. Really....
I am excited to get my Russian one now. I wonder how much longer??? At least I have my Chinese one to play with. It looks pretty cool with the stock on. Just need a bipod now.
So many SKS I will have to look up pics of all of them one day.
