Hey guys! I have an new optic just mounted on my AR15. Currently I do not belong to a range, but i compete in ORA events, as i live in the GTA. Does anyone know of a 100 plus yard range i can visit as a guest to zero my optic? currently mounted is a burris MTAC 1-4x24. The retical is set up to be zeroed at 100 yards, so that is ideal. All of my friends belong to indoor ranges that are not suited to my needs. (shooting sports, George town, Aurora... etc.) I am also looking to join a range so it would also serve as a good chance to check out some ranges in the local area... all though i know it is slim pickings and even slimmer when most aren't accepting members. anyone out there who can help? I shoot in a CQB match at borden on the 16th. I know its late notice. Anything helps!
Thanks Guys - Grant

If you don't get zeroed before the CQB, open the action, remove the bolt and bore sight it at a distant object. This will get you well onto the target when you start the CQB practice.

If you speak to me before the match, we might be able to arrange a quick prone shot to zero.

No membership in Ontario = No ATT. From what I'm told, clubs are required to contact the CFO and terminate your ATT if you are no longer a member. I guess this will change when/if the ATT becomes automatic if you possess an RPAL.

I'm going to assume that Blue Cooker no longer has an ATT and as a result, will be required to get a STATT to the range as a guest of a member there and "lend" his restricteds to that member. Most clubs (esp with public walk-ons) will not allow STATT holders to shoot their own restricteds. Not sure what the deal would be with getting a STATT to Borden, seeing that it's military base. OP might want to check with the guys running the CQB in advance. I'm curious to know as well.

As i am a member with the ORA, i have an STATT for the military ranges. non members can take part in the matches by getting a letter of invite from the match director, after which you are able to get an ATT from CFO.

You won't be able to zero per se before the match but you can use the practice run through to adjust your point of aim/impact. A 25 yd zero will work pretty good for CQB, if you can get access to a short distance range for that at least.

If you have a LTATT with the ORA it should be good for Civi ranges with an invitation (check the wording of your LTATT). Otherwise yes, you need an LOI to get a STATT.

Also, my 25 yd zero is 6 minutes above my 100 yd zero. If you can get to a 25 yard range and zero it at that distance, turn your elevation up 6 min to be pretty close to your 100 yd. My 25 yd zero also measures to my 375m point on the BDC dial of my scope. Should then be close to a 400 yd stadia line on a BDC reticle.

silverdale has the letter of invite (blank, you fill it in) on their website. Guests are allowed on weekends, or wkdays as guest of member. Just give them a call and see if it's ok to bring your AR. never hurts to ask.
