Need info on two shot guns that I own

- Laurona Eibar (Spanish) 20ga side by side.

- 410 single shot there are the words 'Sure Shot' on the side of the receiver and proof tested full choke on the top of the barrel.

Does any one have any info on these fire arms - date, price, etc.,

Thanks

Any one out there knows any thing about these two shot guns? :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

The Sure Shot is a Cooey. These seem to sell for $75-$100, if in nice condition. The Laurona is a Spanish gun, made in Eibar in the Basque country. In 20ga. it probably has more market appeal than it would in 12ga. The Lauronas are not particularly high grade guns, and if anything were to break, parts could be a problem. In good clean condition, sound working order, I could see it bringing perhaps $250.

I had taught that the Laurona would be more expensive but........ At least I know where I'm standing. Thanks for the prices that is good help.

Lawrence,

The value on the Laurona might be a bit higher than $250. Laurona made 11 models of boxlocks that in good condition are listed in my values book at about $350-700. Very good condition $400-850. They did make 9 models of sidelocks, some very nice, especially their Holland and Holland style hand detachable sidelock ones. The sidelocks list from $800-4600 in good condition. In very good condition they are $920-5200. Laurona stopped making sxs after 1978. If you follow this link it will explain how to date your gun based on the stamp from the eibar proof house.

I was in Wholesale Sports in Edmonton on Monday and they had a used one of the detachable sidelock models for $1425. If you post some pictures we might be able to help with the model number.

I should mention that the sxs came in 12, 16, and 20 gauge. The smaller bores were special order items. I don't know how much that would affect the value, but it can't hurt.

I hope that this will give you a better idea. It is also in 20ga and I heard that that wll fetch a bit more money.

Thank you.

Its difficult to tell from the pictures but it looks like it has a round Greener type crossbolt. Does it have Bellota on the barrels somewhere? Are there firing pin bushings in the face of the receiver? Is there an 11 stamped on the barrel flats or watertable? I think this is a model 11, their lowest grade. It is the only model with the Greener style crossbolt. All others have a Purdy type bolting system. The values quoted in the book are Ex-460, VG-400, G-345, F-230, P-172. I converted to Canadian dollars. The book doesn't mention a premium for the 20 gauge but I'm sure that it would be higher. I hope this helps.

I'll check for the markings later but I feel we're getting closer. It's funny how I got that shot gun :D - I found it when I was scuba diving. It was mint when I pulled it out. Gave it to the cops and asked them to return it if every thing was fine. Had to bug them for a few months but I got it. They had left it in the case soaking wet and the forend became black but the rear stock retained the pale colour of the wood. Took it to a smith and had it opened and checked. Infact the safety spring had to be replaced. I was lucky there isn't any rust on it and I might try some wood oil for the stock. I put about 10 rounds through it and had no problems.

It was a miracle how we found it because that day we couldn't see 2 feet off our masks. At first I taught it was a spear gun / harpoon in a vinyl case, but when I pulled it out it was this side by side. :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:
