I prefer the looks of the Shadow 1

All that hype about the new Shadow 2. I can understand that some improvements were made, mainly targetting the ipsc crowd. Personally I much prefer the looks of the Shadow 1. As a matter of fact I just bought a SP01 Shadowline. Am I the only one who prefer the looks of the Shadow 1 ?

I'm sure you are not alone, Gilbert. I'll bet there will be some good deals on Shadowlines, Shadow Oranges, or Shadow Mate Canadians, as folks switch over. Not being a competitor, I'm generally indifferent to the new model, but do like some of the new features like the longer barrel

It all depends on what you want the gun for. Some people just like to display them in their safes and never shoot them, then you would opt for looks. If you shoot the gun for competition, then you would opt for functionality and operation over looks, where the shadow 2 has the edge with its improvements such as higher grip, longer barrel, sight radius, better serations, larger mag release, etc.. Personally, I like the looks of the new shadow. I have the urban grey coming shortly so I had to photoshop me some wallpaper . It is all a matter of taste. You cannot go wrong with either choice!

I havent seen one in person yet and haven't looked up the specs, I thought the gun looked either longer or slimmer. I'm not really a fan of long slides but looks like they fixed the ugly gap in the grip to frame fit so thats a bonus for me.

I prefer the look of the cz75/85 models. Dont much care for rails on handguns.

I have several CZ's now having sold my Shadow off a few years ago.

I do have the New Edition which in my view is the best looking of all the CZ's and the top of the heap for the 75B line with the new upswell beavertail and all.

I also have the 75 Sahdowline which takes the non FPB line to the limit without the ugly rail. The SP-01 Shadowline with the rail is it's equal.

Then comes the Canadian Edition which is the same gun as the Shdowline versions with a Maple Leaf on the grips and an additional $200. OK it might have a different finish and an ever so slightly better trigger.

Buying CZ's is like climbing a ladder. You start with the 75B at around $700 and bounce up about $200 for each version ending up with the now Shadow 2. My guess is with a decent trigger job and the same sights most shooters would not see any difference in their scoring over time using anyone of the versions but we all have egos, guilty here, so we climb the ladder. The innards are all virtually the same though the new Shadow 2 maybe different. I have not peaked inside one yet.

Nice to live where we can.

PS If I ever get finished buying odd toys I may just pick up a gently used Shadow from someone who has a rush on for the Shadow 2. I would go for the latter but the gun is to heavy for the game I prefer to play.

Shadow 1 is a much nicer looking pistol in my opinion. The trigger guard on the Shadow 2 is hideous.
