I really hope we will get the semi auto type 81.

It would be cool but restricted in original configuration. And 5 rd mags where as the type 97 takes beo and pistol mags. Not sure if they would put the longer lmg barrels on for us since tacticool imports seems to mainly do restricted firearms. Also it could be declared an ak varient they clearly go by looks...they must considering the armi jager ap80 only looked like an ak47 yet the type 97 uses a rotating bolt simmilar to an ak and is non restricted and so what does make an ak varient?

you have to start huffing glue, gas, lysol and be a card carrying liberal to understand the logic which they apply for firearm restriction and prohibs
- or basically any reason to disarm Canadians will do for those liberals

type 81 would rock ! but i wouldn't hold my breath

"...the logic..." There is no logic.
"...could be declared an ak variant..." It is an AK variant. Falls under the 'if it looks like a duck' rule.

Nothing special by any means. I would buy one, but only if it were a few hundred less than a vz58. Otherwise, nah.

Everyone keeps posting up videos of the carbine version of the Type 81. That one has the 17.32 inch barrel that would have to be worked around for the Canadian market, with a new 18.5 barrel installed.

Here are pics of the Type 81 "LMG" variant. In semi auto, and as it stands dimensionally it would be non-restricted right away with its 20.47 inch barrel. And looks slightly different with the longer sight radius, stock, etc etc. I'm personally hoping for this, more than the carbine, but would take either..... or maybe both.... haha.

Wouldn't this go awso.e with a rpd? !!!!

My thoughts exactly. Even better with an RPD and a Valmet M78.

For those worried that the Type 81 is an AK variant, that bolt carrier group looks very different than an AK bolt assembly. A reassuring picture when I saw it. That and the gas piston assembly.

They classified the S&W MP-22 as an AR variant FFS!!!

Not a single internal part in common!

Don't hold your breath.....
