Gentlemen, I was reviewing my registration paperwork the other day and I noticed that they mistakenly listed my FN FAL as "Restricted" instead of "Prohibited".

My legal counsel told me to use THEIR paperwork AS IT IS WRITTEN; so I went shooting today. I'm not rying to rub it in. Please make sure you look over your papers and capitalize on THEIR mistakes.

As I'm sure you already know, if you attempt a transfer, "they" will discover "their" mistake .... and will not proceed with the transfer regardless of the fact they the government has legally recognized the firearm incorrectly.

Man that just stupid you posting that on gunutz
Just because you have a bit of paper saying its not prohib don,t not make it prohib.
Thats like saying if your 12yrs old girl had a drivers Lic. saying she was 19 it would be ok if i came over and ####ed her!
And the fact that you know your FN is prohib not only will you lose you PAL but all your guns would be taken away from you.
Don,t #### with the law, change it!

bbb

Oww yer and IBTL

Your legal counsel is wrong, just because the paperwork says restricted doesn't mean the law has changed. It's still prohibited. I'm pretty sure a court would take the view that it's your responsibility to make sure the paperwork is correct. You're the one who has the obligation to comply with the law, regardless of bureaucratic screw ups.

However, I know someone here who has got an L1A1 SLR on a shotgun certificate for crap's sake. The police have actually inspected his security and seen it too. It was smoothbored before the downconversion law came into effect (before that law you could buy them as a shotgun), and they've never figured out that he's got a prohibited weapon. It's actually listed on his certificate as a 7.62mm shotgun.

OK, I have a question.
Is this your ONLY 12-5 type gun? If so, they will probably tell you (once they find THEIR mistake), that YOU did not have your one and only 12-5 done up properly, so you cannot have that all important number on your PAL now. Or ever.
Of course, if you have others, then then you are good. Burn a mag for me! :D

There was nothing legal about what you claimed you did today. Prohibited by order of council... makes them prohibited for use. period. Special Authorities to Possess SAP) are the only legal ways you can possess and discharge that rifle on the range.

I think by broadcasting that fact on the board you could get yourself in trouble .... As in illegal activity is NOT condoned on gunnutz etc.

Im glad you had fun, uhhh but the fact is that 12(5) rifles are dust collectors now. Hope you dont loose the 12(5) status on your PAL ... if you ever had it before  I gotta agree with BBB on this one.

Whatever you do, DON'T send any original CFC paper work back to them. I made the mistake of pointing out THEIR mistake with a serial number and I haven't recieved a reply in over 6 months.

Warning - comments about Ghestapo etc are not tolerated
Necro and Peckerwood consider this an official warning (I cant send/access PM's at work)
