As soon as they announced they were making these new Encores... I put my order in to the distributer.
I sold my original Encore yesterday as soon as I heard my Pro Hunter was in.
This M/L is quite a bit lighter than my old one even with the longer barrel!
I going to put the Leupold quick detach base and rings so I can use the 4-12 VaryXII and the reddot I have already set up for my old one... can't wait to shot some paper... Maybe today!:)

Well it probably has the uber traditionalists grinding their back teeth but it certainly looks like a front stuff'n deer slay'n machine. I wish we had a muzzle loader season out here.

So how many other barrels have you ordered REDD, get on it boy :p

nothing too custom about a TC tube, even with a new chamber

TC's custom shop has told me no they cant sell to Canadians, and there is no Canadian dealer for their custom tubes. Bullberry told me they have shipped to Canada before, but werent sure if they still can

I've seen a lot of these on various hunting shows but have never handled one. how do you rate them?

Do you mean the Encore or the 'new' Pro-Hunter?
I have the Encore 209x50 Magnum SS w/thumbhole stock,If I would've waited till after X-mas I could've bbought the Pro_hunter,But I enjoy the T/C in-line regardless,Hey BIGREDD,Is my forestock in yet lol??

That "speed breech" sure is a thing of beauty.....wonder if you'll be able to use those couple extra seconds it saves to say.....have another pop???? Come on....is it really that hard to unscrew a breech plug??? And yes I can see how that engraved receiver is going to add more volocity to that powerbelt and increase its range two fold! In all fairness T/C has been at the forefront of M/L improvements and design and I would expect nothing less from them to maintain a firm grasp on market share. Looks nice and I'm sure will be a very ugly thing in Redd's hands as far as the local deer are concerned.

You obviously lack enough M/L experience to have had a breech plug get welded into the breech by lots of shooting. I have seen a well greased plug take a couple of days to free up without damaging the firearm. Anyone with a modecum of experience knows what I mean.
This speed breech is a welcome improvement to those of us who know their blackpowder.

Listen just because my gun is prettier than yours is no reason to get pissy...
You forgot to make a smart comment about the QLA system that is new to the Encore as well... so before I have to correct you again I will explain it to you..
QLA™
All T/C muzzleloading rifles come with the patented feature QLA® (Quick Load Accurizor). QLA® allows the hunter or shooter to quickly and easily load their rifle by incorporating a false muzzle design into the barrel of the rifle. Accuracy is enhanced through the QLA® design by aligning the projectile with the rifling. The projectile is supported while the hunter or shooter is loading his rifle to assure the projectile is started exactly perpendicular with the rifling. The secret behind QLA® is only removing the rifling (.0005 of material) while maintaining the groove depth of the bore. Other “muzzle guiding systems” only aid in staring your projectile; they do not work as a true false muzzle and cannot deliver the enhanced accuracy of the QLA® design.
So by removing only the rifling the groove diameter is consistant giving you all the velocity benefits of the longer barrel while making them more consistantly accurate.:p

I have installed the Leupold Vary-X II 4-12X40 and it is the perfect height for the stock using the Leupold QD mounts and rings. I am going to order a VX-III 4.5-14X40 A/O with a B&C reticle for the fall for sure.
I am pleased with the weight and balance... I tried the swing hammer using the scope and it was functional and the clearance was OK. But I opted to put the Carleson ambidextrous hammer spur on instead.
The machining on the hammerspur is more aggressive with a more positive grip than the stock hammer when it is swung to the side. And the ambidextrous nature of the hammer spur is useful both on the bench and in the field for either hand cocking.
I have several sight-ins to do tomorrow and if time and weather are on my side I will try and burn some Black Powder in the Pro-Hunter.
This rifle is keeping me awake at night already....

...................and people chastize others for scoping a levergun?? :D What is the allure of a muzzleloader topped with todays high end optics?? You would think Davey Crocket would be rolling in his grave??:D

Let me guess. The duct tape in the lower pic is to reinforce the receiver when loaded with the 4831 in the upper one?
Red Green lives! (if he's lucky.)

I like the stereo speakers in the butt, too.

:p Stuart

One pound cans of powder are for lightweights Stu... crap that 8 pound can won't last me until August.;)
And No... I don't use Smokeless powder in my Encore..
I just needed something to hold it up in the open position to see the hammer spur!
Oh yeah and the speakers are real handy for the weak signals from my home planet.:)
