I think I'll keep this one (or so I thought|) :)

Hi everyone,

News from the refurbishing department... another bubba'ed Enfield back from "The Dark Side".

1917 No1 Mk3, FTR'ed in 1953. Can't wait to shoot with it!

Cheers,

Lou

Skirsons, sharp eye... :) The stacking swivel's on its way, was missing from the last parts order... The butt swivel's there though (and I can't frame a picture, obviously). My bayo scabbard's pretty beat up, may look for a better one (to match the rifle's look).

Bushwacker, you probably wouldn't live without GSP's, like me - and many can't understand us ;)

German Dog, British rifle, be sure he doesn't raise a leg to it! :p Beautiful refurb. & excellent shot. I'm still working on my photography skills & there's no way either one of my two hounds would pose so majestically with one of my milsurps.

You do have a talent with wood finishing Lou! I'd love to see the pics of the wood set as you received it...I'll bet it was a little less gorgeous...

Very nice!

Hey Cantom, I didn't think about that. I will take before and after pics with the next parts shipment, promised.

Oh, and you'll probably laugh now - you hinted at my inability to hold on to a rifle: I found a No5 in Montreal, so I will have to send this No1 Mk3 to another home - and I was trying hard to keep it, really!

I did shoot it, before I retrofitted it though. Pretty solid; the bore and rifling do reflect the fact that it was FTR'ed, that's for sure!

I like seeing the SMLE with the bayonets attached. It is a great thing you do Lou repairing abused rifles. I love the wood as well. That takes a lot of hard work.

Great looking dog as well. The only reason I would not get one of that breed is he would be bored with my lifestyle. It is not fair to an animal like that to keep him indoors without any stimulation.

Thanks Unsub, quite a few more underway; hope to do two or three before I take a break this summer (work around the house, on my acre, etc...)

You know your breeds, Unsub. That particular dog (Buddy) is a local rescue. Was bored to death (almost) in the city. Super skinny, was not moving around enough to build an appetite; within the first month when we got him last summer, he gained from 10 to 15 pounds. Now, it's quite happy - moving a lot, a lot. Timing was great; our oldest pointer passed away last fall; so our second pointer didn't feel too much alone (this Buddy keeps her quite busy).
