I want a Black Rifle for Hunting.

I am looking to hunt with a Black Rifle.

I have a CZ-858 and an M-14 but...

That's not what I'm looking for.

Are there any modern Black Rifles in a calibre useful for hunting tat is non-restricted, like the XCR (modern), but in .308 or something similiar, useful for elk or moose. I know Robinson is coming out with a .308 but who knows when. Is there anything else?

I am going to use my M-14 this year, but I'd like to get on whatever waiting list I have to to get the rifle for next year....

I would love to hunt with both a Rem R-15 223 for predators and an R-25 in 308 Win for deer.

I think you're hooped for now. Unless you live in an area where you're allowed to hunt deer with a 223. Then you can get an XCR, SL8, AR-180B or SAN and head to the woods.

The .308 version of the Swiss Arms is in limited production, but uber expensive. I don't believe a single unit has made it here as yet. The 6.8SPC conversion is apparently available for the XCR, but really not the best choice for Moose/Elk. If/when the .308 version becomes available it might be one route to go, but for now, your M-14 is about it.

You might consider Remington's Patrol Rifle in .308. Its black, its looks evil enough to make a liberal squirm, and it should be reliable.

Darn... thats what I thought....

Yeah, that's what I had figured. Nothing but the XCR in 6.8... and when the .308 comes out it will be on a new chassis, so no conversion for that.

I can hunt in .223 here now, but I was waiting for either a T9 or a Tavor to become available for that. Whatever first.

In the meantime, I already make Liberals squirm...

Other than the handguns, every other rifle than M-14 has "taken" something. My favorite and my baby is the Blaser in 257 Weatherby or .308. The Marlin, (lent to a firend) recently shoot a Narwhal, which is kinda cool, and the CZ has taken Caribou and coyotes. The LE rifle has done deer. The Blaser has done about everything I can hunt. Moose, elk, deer, yotes.

1 more question, is the XCR available in 6.8 restricted or non? I haven't been able to find lengths for it here, or someone selling it. Please refer if you can.
