I want an m14 that I can reload 308 for- do I need a springfield?

I have shot multiple brands of 308 up to 168 grn and plenty of 7.62 nato of different
manufacture,in both my rifles and have no issues whatever.Over 1000rds between the
two.

"...so I can reload 308..." All you need to do is use a full length sizer die every time. Plus watch the case and OAL. You do not need BR or any primer other than regular LR primers. You especially do not need CCI 'Milspec' primers. Those are just a marketing gimmick for magnum rifle primers.
Slam fires are caused by improperly loaded ammo(usually improperly seated primers), not the rifle.
SA Inc.'s warrantee is void if you shoot any reloaded ammo out of any of their firearms.

I've shot all kinds of reloads out of mine...7.62, .308, I never paid any attention or have any concerns about the matter. I load'em up put them in the gun and shoot...regardless of what the head stamp says. No problems at all.

I have a bunch of TZ 80 ammo I'll make you a deal on.

If your primers are to thin you might gret a slam fire - don't use cheap primers - i use CCI BR2 primes and never had a problem. You can also buy a USGI bolt -it will tighten that headspace right up and still be a lot cheaper than a Springfield.

Like supercharging a Kia.

I know I know just shoot it falling dicks etc :)

What I dont get is the chamber will be larger than 308 field reject dimensions. .308 FIELD NO GO is 1.638" vs 1.641 ish chamber of mine.

What Im wondering is- What are the effects of firing a cartridge that is quite a bit smaller than the chamber it fits into?

can I adjust my dies to make the cartridge "bigger"?

You need a vacume die. That should bring your cases up to chamber dimension.
