Bill

that I could use for practice in my workshop. I recently started bulls eye shooting after many years of being away from the sport. I'm using a S&W 41 for competition but like the looks and grip angle of the european standard pistols. Can anyone steer me towards a web site or Canadian importer (preferably ontario)? The pistol doesn't have to be of olympic quality ( I don't have enough years left in me for that level of training :().Thanks for your help. :shotgun:

Or a cheaper Daisy Avanti Triump 747 for around $200 with a choked Walther match grade barrel...................Harold

Perhaps a Gamo Compact for something in between. Adjustable match trigger, Adjustable sights, competition-grade rifled barrel, shoots under 500fps so no PAL required (likely not an issue anyway - but less stringent storage rules) and gets great reviews for accuracy from the competitive folks:

http://www.dlairgun.com/Gamo-Air-Pistols.html - $295

I used to shoot one of these and they are the Mutz Nutz. Great value and super accurate. OOOh. I think I should get one again.

Cheers

That's reason enough to buy a good one!... You ain't got that much time left, might just as well go with the best ;)

On a more serious note,
- Do you have a budget?
- Do you want new or are used pistol OK?
- Do you want PCP/CO2/crank ?

One of the best buy in 10M air pistol is the IZH46

- No need for compressed air bottle, pump or CO2 bottle.
- Can be hard to find...

I've started with a TAU7, it served me well for a number of years.

If you want to treat yourself (and practice the time/rapid fire stage) you can get something like this

:D

Some people will cringe at the $$ for some of these air guns... but the way I look at it, it's the pistol I shoot the most... so the cost per shot isn't actually that high.

As for Ontario dealer, if you're close to Ottawa, you might want to get in touch with Jocelyn Langlois (Cibles Canada Targets)

SillyMike has made some good suggestions. In my experience, the Gamo Compact is a capable shooter, but I think the trigger is a limitation: not adjustable (despite what the manual indicates), with a basic blade. Lots of plastic in that gun, too. The IZH 46 is a good quality SSP that shoots very well. The grip is left unmodified from the factory, so depending on the size and anomalies of your hands, you would likely have to do some shaping. One other worthwhile mention is the FAS 604, a top-latch SSP, similar in configuration to the Weihrauch HW75, but equipped to shoot primarily 10M. They are pricey, but very well made (mine is around 25 years old), with an excellent trigger. They also sit very low in the hand, much like a standard pistol, and are not at all front heavy (a source of complaint with some IZH 46 shooters). D&L carry FAS, if you want to have a look. Good luck on your quest.

There is a Tau-7 for sale used at http://w ww.targetshooting.ca/index.html. I use mine more than the izh-46 (but mind you I still love the 46). You can use cheap powerlets on the Tau (bought in bulk pack at C.T. they are pretty cheap) or you can set yourself up with bulk CO-2 for not that much money. For rapid fire you can also try to get your hands on a DU-10 Drulov. 5 shot auto, also powerlets or bulk. Any of these 3 will keep you under $500.00.

I have an older 10 meter class Walther CP2 that I was considering selling. Comes with original case, tools, documents, and a second C02 cylinder.

IMHO a very nice gun with one of the best pistol triggers I've every pulled!!

If you are interested, send me a pm with your email address and I'll send you some pics of it.
