I want to do some dove hunting in Ontario, near Ottawa...

Hey Guys;

Last year was the first year for dove hunting in Ontario in almost 60 years. And, I didn't get out because I literally could not get any shells!!! This year, I scored 2 cases of shells & the spot we thought might have some luck at, hasn't panned out as they are not seeing the birds they saw last year...

So, does anyone around the Ottawa area have a dove spot they are willing to share? I really want to try 'the flying filet mignon' of the bird world...

Head out west towards the valley, tons out here. I have to dodge them while driving most of the time!

Which end of town are you in? There's an abundance of mourning doves in my neck of the woods - farmland east of Orleans.

Look foe corn fields. There are usually swarms around them. I was out forbgoose in the west end on saturday and saw a bunch.

Bumping this in hopes I might get out for a dove hunt... Despite my best efforts asking around, I don't have access to a field they are frequenting. Would love to get out for my first dove hunting experience...

Anyone?

P.S. I recently lost my hunting dog Nos, and my new pup is just 4 months old... So I don't have a retriever to contribute this year...

Practically every corn field that's been cut so far and many standing soy bean fields have doves cruising around in this area. Find a good spot along the field edge, setup some decoys and wait for some pass shooting.

I bagged a dozen last weekend while taking a break from puffball hunting along a cut corn field. They really seem to like to hangout on dead standing trees.

Sorry to hear Nos is gone. I recall many pictures you posted of him.
