Hey everyone, pretty new to the shooting, I have a 10/22 target tactical, and a Mini-30.
My Dad used to tell me stories about shooting gophers all day long, I would love to shoot little varmint critters. Where are some area's I could go on a bit of a camping trip too, withen BC or Alberta, that would allow for a reasonable quantity of legal gopher or other small game available to shoot without license.

Oh, the closer to Victoria BC the better, cause thats where I'm at
Thanx

I live in Calgary and there are millions of gophers surrounding the city, heck even in the city.

Drive outside of the calgary city limits, close your eyes and pull the trigger on your 10/22 and you'll hit a gopher.

you will need to wait for warmer weather for gophers to come out

SE Sask i know that they come out in April-ish

Southern Alberta i have seent them come out in the end of Feb

I'm sorry to break it to you, but we really don't have any substantial varmint populations here on the Island. Crows and those ratty looking city squirrels don't have large populations outside urban areas.

Even the bunnies at UVic have been flown first class to a nature sanctuary in Texas. (No smilie exists to represent my level of eye rolling)

You'll have to venture to Alberta and Saskatchewan for better success.

Cheers,
Sand

... Unfortunately, based on my inquiries regarding shooting Crows, you will need a Hunter License# and a Hunting License ( CORE can be Challenged if you don't have a number)... If someone can show me being in error, as it applies to BC, I'd certainly appreciate it ! ...... David K

.. Thanks "The Sand Man" ! It disappointingly so, confirms what I'd been told. 'Haven't seen any Rabbits around my area, probably the Coyotes have eliminated them. Plus, to be fair, none of my Family enjoy Game Meat ! .... David K

"...I keep saying let's go to Calgary..." That'd likely require a non-resident hunting licence.

For gophers? I doubt it. It's been years since I've been gopher dusting, but I don't think you need a license. Can anyone answer this?

You just need permission from a land owner, which is easy to get because everybody hates those critters.

Drive outside of the calgary city limits, close your eyes and pull the trigger...hit a gopher.

I've never been to Calgary.

If you drove outside of the city limits, wouldn't you be on farmers land? I've been west of Calgary (heading up to the Ghost River to go climbing) and I'm pretty sure the fields I saw belonged to farmers. No?
