camo paint
Have camo painted 6 of my rifles in past years useing KRYLON camo paints purchased at Canadian Tire. Worked well for me and did a few using the Leaf and Grasses method for stencils.
Can't comment on the long term durability of krylon but it dries in less than 10 minutes allowing you to go to your next color right away and any future touch-ups should be easy.
I dont know if you have a wood or plastic type stock and each has its own simple specific prep work before the paint goes on depending if you want it permanent or not.
Have done both types and I wanted as permanent as possible on my wood stocks as the paint helps keep moisture out of the wood. Not reccomending any thing but "this worked for me."
Sanded the factory varnish/shellac/ ??/ finish off the stock, wiped all dust off , and then useing small paint brush applied a coat of "gravel guard" (the stuff some people apply to the first few inches of the rocker panels of P.U. trucks to protect the paint from chips) to the stock. Around here at automotive stores you have a choice of clear, black and white only.
This stuff is sort of rubbery and textured to the touch (brush stokes)and takes hours to dry ( comes in spray cans too but haven't tried it). If you want the stocks Barrel channel done too for waterproofing make sure to sand same down before applying or you wont have your free floating barrel any more! Once this is dry apply the colors of your choice.
For my other patterns did a google search of camo patterns and eventually found a pattern , german FLECK TARN that I liked , printed a copy, traced it onto a sheet of laminating type plastic, used an Xacto type knife to cut the pattern out onto about 8 inch x 8 inch area and leaving a large border around it for your fingers to hold. .......put the template onto any part of the stock and steel you want painted and move it around till done and then add the next color when template dries and continue this way with next color. The template will last for nearly ever if you keep wiping the paint off it after each succesive layer......if you get tired of the pattern/colors from season to season use the template and another color scheme
Some people have stated they have used brush-on and spray-on "truck bed liner" with success also.
