I wanted to replace my P14 Enfield stock, with a Boyds stock! WOW! They delivered!

I was hoping this stock was going to be a "decent" stock to improve on the old original sporterized stock.

hey, a new life on a great old war horse. looks like you had a few custom features added to the stock. nice choices you've made. i've ordered several stocks from boyds and they have all been done really well... have been very pleased with them as i am sure you are!! did you need to do any fitting or was the p14 drop in? have you bedded the action and/or put pillars in the stock?
 
The only adjustment I had to make was to relieve the front part of the chamber swell a very small amount to allow the action to sit right down on the bottom of the inletting. The glass bedding will commence tomorrow morning. I don't think I will pillar bed this stock at this time.

The inletting was VERY well done!

There is a thin paper thickness of relief all around the action and barrel channel.

After making the small adjustment to the chamber swell, the barrel channel was fully free floated already.
 
$288.00 total for the stock + $24.00 at the Canadian post office for the governments cut.

The cost was a little high, but the product speaks for itself. I am happy with it!
 
Very nice. Did the moose come from the factory?

I want to try my hand at their mosin nagant "prairie hunter" stock in the same finish, good to see some better pics of it.
 
Very nice! I've always liked the look of the green camo laminated stocks. Winchester had some on their turkey pump shotguns for a while.

Yes, Boyds did the moose engraving. The stippling checkering really has a good feel to it as well! I like it better than the traditional checkering.
 
Wow! That's awesome, congrats.

If I knew they offered something like that I might have kept the P14 I used to have.
 
WOW! love the color on that stock! i ordered a pepper laminate, thought it looked pretty good, now looks kind of bland in comparison. is the P14 still a 303Br? and what did you use for bottom metal, hard to tell by the pic, is that the bottom still with the drop belly?? i've got an M17 Enfield, 30-06, thinking of doing something crazy with it now! maybe rechamber to 300 H&H? anyway, i digress, love the look af that stock!
 
Gorgeous! I might have to get one myself! Have any of you ever tooken your P14 out hunting? What did you think of it in the field?

The bottom metal is original. Boyds nicely blended the magazine swell into the stock profile!

The P14 is 303 British. I have a custom cast bullet mould on order for this rifle. It is the 311299 clone with a larger metplat. The nose section is designed to fit the bore more efficiently.

I just finished glass bedding the stock, and I will not have the opportunity to shoot it for another 3 weeks! I can hardly wait!
