A funny thing happened.
A retired gunsmith I know who still does some tinkering on his own and a few friends' guns was interested in getting a couple of those Tradex new Swede 6.5 barrels when I told him about them.
So I ordered him a couple. When they got here, he said he didn't really need two, did I want one?
I said no at first, but then remembered I actually have a small ring Mauser with a shot out barrel. It's drilled for scope bases and the bolt handle has been altered to clear a scope.
I could never get it to shoot any good at all in its original 7x57 chambering, so he offered to blue the new barrel and put it into my action and headpsace it, so now suddenly I'm going to have a rifle with a new 6.5 x 55 barrel.
I've bought two 6.5 x 55 Mausers over the years, dreaming of turning one into a sporter but never got around to it so now I've been saved from becoming Bubba.
