I wonder if we can get these in Canada?

I'd love to see your idea of a pretty woman if you think the AK is better looking than the Vz. LOL.

In't that Wendy?

VZ-58 = most elegant in appearance (I agree with general sentiment of thread).
AK-47 = most bad-ass appearance (I'd love to own one).

Kinda like the difference between 'lust' and 'love'; they're both good.

Cause the way it bolts takes into account too many variable without really solving anything. Unless there is something I'm missing the front tangs would have to be custom fit to each rifle or you would have play. I've tried this with a regular hand guard and although at first it was firm and repeatable but it has degraded with each cleaning. I'm sure this mount would be ok but there are better solutions. I would take a FAB UHG over this because the FAB one atleast has 8 point of contact but thats just me.

while i agree that this set up isnt the best but saying you take FAB UHG bcos of some 8 points contact (?) , thats where i will have to disagree .

FAB UHG just replaces the red pesto log on the upper HG , its not even screw in and if you have a worn locking pin , well your shot are gonna wander from shot to shot , at least this locks it in the back-end with a screw . just MHO .

Yea but what keeps the front stable? My experiance with the FAB unit although not the best solution either is that there is always positive tension on the UHG. Fab utilizes the original 4 contact points and adds 4 more to create tension that is somewhat repeatable.

Really who cares if it doesn't move when bolted down? Its gonna move when you take it off to clean which is after every shoot with surplus. In the US where there is a ton of non corrosive ammo available, this makes more sense. Just MHO.

Blaster, have you ever seen a 3x magnifier that has that kind of eye relief?

If it's built beefy enough (meaning that it's plenty stiff,) the bolt-down at the rear should hold it just fine, and should have repeatable zero, provided you can get the torque bang on every time. Think like the Bassett M14 mount.

As long as you don't #### around too much, it'll run.

Do I see hex head screws in the top of that rail? If so, maybe the rail section comes off so you can remove the piston?

Or maybe it's to lock the mount to a barrel clamp?

Yea I noticed that too. It almost looks like the front clamps down to the gas block with those hex screws. That would make it firm at the front but it would also mean dissassembly every time you clean. The problem I have with all the UHG mounts is that they cover the most important area for cleaning. If we could shoot 1500 rounds before having to clean the gas port like you can with non corrosive ammo then this would be a great place to mount optics.

if thats the case and supra is right about the front clamp down , then this should on rock solid altho alittle pita to clean .

i also like the fact the upper do not touch/contact the lower HG unlike the FAB so no chance of disturbing every time the lower hit the sand bag .
