I have Piet Huijsen's 1897 Ludwig Loewe carbine in 7x57, like most of them. It is serial #6691, one of a batch of 2000 made by Ludwig Loewe, later to become DWM, in Berlin, and shipped out to the ZAR in August of that year. He was relieved of it at the Battle of Korannafontein in May 1901. I acquired it in 1995, and have loved shooting it ever since, even though its favourite fodder, the 200gr RN, is not available here in UK. It shoots the 175gr stuff about a foot high, but just to be shooting it is great craic.
