Hello,

First post here folks. A friend of mine has an iBI prefit on his 457 and the fluting is almost sharp to the touch. Are they all like this? His may have been an early one so I’m curious if that’s still the case or if the recent barrels have more radiused flute edges?

TIA

I have one on my T1x. If I were to run a finger quickly down the fluting I suspect I 'could' cut myself. Wouldn't take much to stone down the edge a bit but its never been an issue for me.

The initial/early production runs hard sharp edges on the flutes. My .308 barrel flutes are pretty sharp.

Current production flute edges are not as sharp. IBI changed to a different cutter.

I just got my fluted IBI barrel a couple of days ago, I suspect it could cut skin if I ran my finger down it with some force.
Looks gorgeous though,

The sharp-edged flutes mean that until you use them, nobody thinks you have a bayonet!

(I herewith advise the humour-impaired that this would be neither effective nor well-received. But it would be funny.)

Sanding with 220 grit wet/dry paper on an appropriately sized wood dowel should take the edge off and still look fine too.
