This was my great-grandfather's first gun. He bought it for $17, when he was 17, in 1937. He was always proud of it and used it frequently up until he died in 2000. My uncle has it now. It was promised to him as a boy. I'm trying to find out the model, value and any history I guess? i'm here to learn :D. Thanks in advance! It says it'll shoot .22LR and .22 Long

Overall picture of the gun:

The small writing on the left of "MOD. 06" in that picture says:
"MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN.
CONN. U.S.A PAT. JUNE 26 .88. DEC. 6 .92. NOV. 27 .06. MAY 30 .1911."

I and the rest of my family appreciate any information you have! :)

As a side note, it was designed by John Browning, who designed most of Winchesters, Remingtons and of course Brownings guns from the time period.

That's interesting, thanks! He was born in 1920 so Now I want to try and find out who owned it before him. It was the first gun I ever shot.
