OK, a puzzle for the learned ones. I’m looking for an ID on a round. It appears to be WW1 German, either very light artillery or quite heavy small arms.
Brass case, rebated rim, Berdan primer.
Iron/steel projectile with copper obturation band. Slight bourrelet body. Quite a flat nose. No fuze, projectile appears to be one-piece. Inside is empty from the base, with apparent residue from some sort of combustion.
Overall length: 5.672”
Obturation band dia = 0.82”
Projectile max dia = 0.775”
Projectile length = 3.17”
Case length = 2.75”
Outside neck dia = 0.81”
Rim dia = 0.85”
Base dia = 0.89”

P&S believed to indicate Potz & Sand, Mannheim, Germany. Company seems to still be in existence, if it matters. 18 would likely indicate year of manufacture, consistent with that on projectile.

Faint stampings on projectile: C inside a circle, 22 18, crown [over] V (latter repeated twice)
Any ideas as to what this might be?
