Ideal crown on a handgun muzzle?

I've heard 11 degrees is good, but this was always referring to rifles. My 9mm pistol has what looks to be a 45 degree crown, but a .45acp pistol I have has what looks like a flat crown, and then there is the nicely rounded crown of a S&W revolver. I plan to chop the barrel of a .22 pistol I will be recieving shortly so I would like to know.

If you're gonna have the crown re-cut, you might as well tell the gunsmith to recess it, like in Paulinski's picture above. That would reduce the chance of damaging the crown if you happen to bump the muzzle against a concrete wall or some other solid object.
