I am looking for my next rimfire rifle.
Stipulations
Bolt action
MAXIMUM length 38"
Heavy barrel (bull barrel, no contour, prefer recessed crown)
Quality adjustable trigger or Timney availability
10 round mags

I saw a Bruno silhouette rifle that had been cut and recrowned at a gunshow last year and I am still kicking myself for not buying it.

Any Ideas
What about the cz 452 american with threaded barrel, anyone have one? I can't find any good pictures of it.

CZ 453 Varmint - the trigger is adjustable (independent from set trigger), found it took a little get used to setting the trigger forward for set trigger mode but results at 100m with std velocity ammo (CCI std, Fiochi std) are within 1moa. A trigger job also helps. Both polymer and metal mags 10 round mags are available but personally prefer the flush fitting 5 round metal ones.

Can't go wrong for a $300 tack driver that comes with 3 10 round mags and 1 5 round mag. Also fully adjustable trigger with no gunsmith required and drilled\tapped for weaver mount's or just simply use dovetail. The best thing of all is the big fat barrel with the mint target crown ;)

Nice. I've thinking about one of these for my kids to start with. Whose a good vendor for them (idealyl in Toronto or nearby, so we can see in it person)?

What's your budget for the rifle alone? There's Savage, CZ, Anschutz and other, but the price escalates. Hard to suggest without knowing if you want to spend $300, $500, $1000 or more.

I have a CZ American, I like it, but it has its limits which better rifles can exceed. Not aware that its offered in a bull barrel as you specify. The new CZ's have switched to a standardized action screw system and you may be able to get a CZ varmint that has no barrel screw and instead a full floating barrel, if that appeals to you. Either way they seem to shoot about the same from all reports.

budget is around $1000. Leaning towards the cz 452 16" right now.
I do love that recessed crown on the winchester though, that coupled with the price would make for a great truck gun.

I have the savage MK II stainless with the thumb hole stock and the bull barrel. It balances so naturally and comes to my eye effortlessly. It has the same weight as my center fires, shoots one hole groups with the right ammo and is the most natural feeling and pointing rifle I have ever shot. And I have shot a few! See if you can find one nearby and have a look. Very nice machining, super smooth bolt, accu trigger etc. etc. By far the most accurate .22 I have ever shot much less owned.

If I was budgeting for a thousand or more, I'd look into an Anschutz. Maybe you don't want a used gun, but if you really want ultimate accuracy you might be better off with a used Anschutz than a new CZ.
