Not Hand primers , looking for something ,anything that's more dependable than my Lee Auto Prime that is a pita:( lately.
Any Opinions on the New Lee Safety Prime system from present owners ??

What are you priming? precision ammo or bulk ammo? if your looking to crank out bulk ammo you should maybe upgrade to a progressive press. My biggest problem is keeping the primer tubes filled they seem to gobble up primers faster then you can fill them.

What is the problem your having with the auto prime I have used it before and it works fine.

The lee safty prime is going to be a step down from the auto prime handheld.

I'm priming mostly precision ammo ,maybe 100 to 200 at a sitting. I use a Dillon for the bulk stuff.
The problem I'm experiencing is ,& always was , --are the primers are not lining up , or falling in place dependably from the feed tray-- especially near the end of 100 primers. Lately I've had to frequently dismantle the thing due to double feeds & jamming while using the large rifle primers.
Lived with the quirkiness of this system for years , now kind of wondering what's New & Improved out there?

This is what we are talking about? there are two different trays one for large primers and small primers... you also need to use the correct shell holders... I have never had a problme of double feeds and jams... you just kinda shake it around as your priming it never caused me any problems.

If you want I am going to be priming some .308 I'll make you a small video maybe you can spot what I do differently then you.

My mistake , for leaving the " II"off the end-- I'm using the "Lee Auto Prime II " mounted on a Lee Reloader Press. --- Primes on up stroke etc.

It could be that you Lee was slightly out of spec from day-1, or it's just worn-out.
Either send it back to Lee with $10 USD, to be "reconditioned" or just pitch it out and buy a new one. It's a really good machine.

Next step up would be one of the RCBS APS machines, I suppose.

Ah yah that system isnt the greatest... Grab an autoprime and you'll be much happier.

I've got the Lee autoprime as well as its RCBS counterpart. The RCBS has a different feel and I use it more, (to justify it frankly), but the Lee and RCB$ do the very same job at the very same speed. One just costs more than the other.
